As a psychologist I am fascinated with birth. As a woman I know the power of it. Birth is an experience that affects more than the immediate family. One birth alters a community forever. A community can also change how we see birth. It was once said that

”Birthing unfolds within a complex and infinite web, spun by the mother and by everyone who has ever taught her about mothering, birth, sexuality and pain, control and surrender. All the people at her birth help spin the web with the threads from histories, beliefs, experiences and fears and recent birth experiences that they have witnessed which empowered or terrified them.”

The story of a child's birth is such an important one. It is a story that can be healing and revelatory for the listener as well as the person sharing. I hear many stories in my practice and I now hold this public space for your stories to be shared.
